driver problem? with google earth

Asked by D.P.Tickner

Google earth runs fine as long as I move or zoom with the mouse, but as soon as I stop the image disappears. I am using a Radeon x300 card with the ATI accelerated graphic driver

Ye smost propbably probems with your ATI driver.

Make sure you have the latest/best driver for your card.

You may want to try using Envy NG (package envyng-gtk) to automatically install those. It works well in Hardy.

If using Intrepid, System > Administration > Hardware drivers includes EnvyNG functionality and should provide appropriate binary drivers.

Fabian, Thanks for your advice, I tried your suggestion which made matters much worse. But in the process of re-installing the old driver I found a solution:- to turn off visual effects ( System > Appearance >Visual Effects > None ) Goggle Earth now works just fine. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction
