hmm, there does not seem to be a problem with that grub, i cant see any problems. i take it you have tried loading into recovery mode.

Alright, just an idea but again i know squat about linux. Looking at the code above it has hd1,0 for the boot? but linux is installed on the 36 gig sata drive which looks like its assigned as SDB1. Not really sure, any help is much appreciated.

Looking more into this. My bios lists my sata drive and the 3rd IDE master. 1st ide master is my 80gig hard drive and 2nd master/slave are my cd burners.

I would try if
root (hd2,0)
in the menu.lst file works then. Or run
sudo lshw -class disk
from the live CD. This should give you the order of physical ids as the linux kernel finds them.
I hope this helps

(hd0,0) in the menu.lst fixed the problem.

Start-up problem: "no boot/no OS/ no root", glitch...
Start-up problem: "no boot/no OS/ no root", glitch..?
While Gimp editing in 910.. a few pix I deleted, deleted very slowly..
The last re-edited pix of 30, just wouldn't save, so I rebooted..
On reboot, a pop-up read, "no operating system detected"... seems my hd has been hacked..?
I inserted the 910 install CD.. Install is blocked-out after keyboard option..
In blank page partitioner-window, only thing that works in partitioner-window is right click to "revert", then it goes back to live-desktop, but fails at partitioner again... In reboot, one line reads "no root..."
What can be done to the OS, when 910 won't boot-up, nor reinstall..?
Would pull the battery help, to allow reinstall if there's something hack-bad in the bios..?
It would be nice to get this OS running, so I don't lose the couple hours of edits...
