installation

Asked by Jo Gerb

Normally, i'm using windows xp.
now, it's down (you needn't laugh^^).
Until i've managed it to repair it, i'd like to use ubuntu.
Now here's my question: can i use ubuntu without losing windows? thank you.

Of course!

During graphical installation, use the "guided resize and use free space" option and the installer will shrink your existing partition. It will then create a new partition completely independent of Windows and will load from there. Preserving ALL your current data.

Once you are in Ubuntu, you will be able to mount your Windows partition and recover anything from it should you decide to do so.
