sync complete ubuntu system PC to laptop

How can I synchronize a complete installed ubuntu system (along with downloaded softwares ) or some of the downloaded softwares from my PC to laptop? I dont want to download the softwares again. and dont have source or binary!

It is possible but not recommended in any way.

You would have to copy the whole system to the HDD of the Laptop (f.e. "cd /mnt_old_system" and then "tar -cvpf - . | (cd /mnt_new_system ; tar -xvf -)" as root) and then install Grub via a live-system to the new HDD.

Not very easy... not recommended... but indeed possible.

You could use partimage (from the repos) from within a liveCD.
May be a bit easier...

Or you could use Acronis True Image Home (about 10€) what would be the best and easiest solution. (Only if *not* on Intrepid jet... there is a *bug*)
