Potaguy Intrepid version to play on Hardy? how to

Asked by Kev

HI all
I would like to know if it is possible to install potatoguy (ktuberling_4.1.2-0ubuntu3_i386.deb this is the version in the Intrepid repo) on hardy, the new one has extra things like Christmas tree and Pizza my 4yo daughter loved the new version when I was playing around with intrepid... But Hardy is more stable on my PC.
If I run that deb file it says "error: dependency is not satisfiable: kdebase-runtime.
can I enable the intrepid repo and update this and then install it from SPM and then disable the intrepid repo?
Thanks... The hardy one is older and does not have these new pictures...
Thanks for your help
Kev

I don't think you should do this partly update.

In first instance just try ktuberling-kde4: http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=ktuberling-kde4
There is a quite new version in the hardy-backports. You should activate the backports-repository for this. (In Synaptics -> settings -> package-sources)
Maybe this fits your needings.

Much fun.

(Else you could compile it yourself... but it's a lot of work then and not recommended.)

got the backports sorted but it is the same version as the one I had, I am looking for the latest..(ktuberling_4.1.2-0ubuntu3_i386.deb) it has Christmas tree and Pizza and a few others... she loves decorating the tree.. I guess I will have to wait till it hits the backports if ever....

Sorry... I guess this will not happen to hardy.
I even thought about compiling it for you... but there are so many dependences, as the whole KDE-Games has to get compiled, that it is a bit out of limits.

Sorry again.

Thanks Mate.... It's the thought that counts... it means a lot to me that you would even have considered it... BUT I have just found a solution... I am lucky it worked but I had nothing to loose.
I downloaded the intrepid deb version. I then looked inside it via archive manager... it then allowed me to look further and further till I found the actual pictures... then all I did was extract them to the folder in hardy and held my breath and IT WORKED wahoooooo My little girl will be so happy tomorrow morning when she wakes....
thanks for the ideas though.... I got mine by looking at the potato Guy manual and the section that said "for Artists".. telling them of the files that need to be made ... that started the thought process to success.
Have a safe and happy Christmas to you and Family
Cheers
Kev
