initramfs when tring to install 8.10 64

when I am tring to install the computer stops at busybox 1.10.2....then the next line or prompt says enter 'help'
then initramfs

it wants something but I dont know what can you help me
I have an emachine d6417 3200 processor 3gigs of ram and I did get ubuntu 7.10 to run so I think it is something with the new version any help thank you in advance

me 2 i get the same prompt [initramfs]_ when i try to install Ubuntu 8.10 what dos it means??

I have the same problem trying to install UBUNTU 8.10
I ploughed through the 30 odd pages of posts trying some of the recommended settings which included BIOS changes, added various command line options to the installation commands - none of it worked.

i dont know what it is!
in the end the only solution that worked for me was to revert back to the 8.04
but im still waiting for an answer....
