Can't connect to internet after upgrading from 8.04 to 8.10

Asked by JMW

Just upgraded from 8.04 to 8.10. Can't connect to internet. The pop-up says I am connected, but I am not, and after I somehow get the icon to spin around it says I am disconnected.. My hardware is ok. Works from
Win XP ( have a dual boot system) and it worked fine on 8.04.

I understand there are bugs in Nework Manager 0.7. What can I do in the mean time? Where can I start looking to see what is wrong? Should I go back to an earlier version of NM? Is there a config file around that needs some modification? Any work arounds? Any ideas?

Problem solved. See bug 61989:

    https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/61989

I only had to delete "interface-mtu" from /etc/dhcp3/dhcp.conf to get it to work. I left the mtu field on the eth0 connection at automatic.

Every thing seems to work ok.
