have you checked the internet status in the access point itself, to make sure it can get out to the net?
Also, what card do you have? and are you using native linux drivers, or ndiswrapper?

thanks Andrew Morrs.
i checked the internet, it works in xp and sometimes in ubuntu(just a few secs).
my wifi card is NETGEAR WG111v3,since it works when i installe ubuntu8.10, i didn't install anything (like ndiswrapper or some others to install the drivers) because my card worked fine, jsut as i said, it connected to another wifi (WEP) and worked well, so i think the driver is not the problem.

if the driver is not at fault, it could be a DNS resolution failure. When you are unable to connect to the internet next, do:
less /etc/resolv.conf and check that the nameserver statement in there is correct, and present.
Also, what native drivers are you using? i wasnt aware there were native drivers for that particular card.

Can you help with this problem?
