Please bump libhdf5 to version 1.8.2

I would like to request that hdf5-1.8.2 be added to the ubuntu package manager.

I looked for information about why it has not been included yet (gentoo and fedora include it in their package managers), but I am new to the development side of Ubuntu. If I overlooked some relevant information, would someone please point me in the right direction?

I am not sure why this package has not been upgraded to the latest version. The current version is the universe repository is 1.6.6-0. In order to get better help, check out to backporting process.
