The topic in the #ubuntustudio irc channel says " Our 1st release will be out when its out. We're aiming for April. " so no, it's not dead.

There are packages in Feisty: ubuntustudio-*
For the audio packages you may need to install linux-lowlatency package
This functions correctly on my Feisty install
