deleting file using gksudo naultus doenst update free space

Asked by izzy200198

Hi Guys,

I used Simple Backup to back up a 5 gig folder. And later restored to a folder on my desktop. But i noticed that i could not see the folder I created or the data. My intention was to just delete this folder as it was an extra backup. Someone told I probably couldnt see it because of a permsion thing and he recommended using "gksudo nautilus" to view the desktop. And sure enough, there it was. the 5 gig folder i no longer needed. So then deleted it. A message popped up saying it wouldnt be moved to trash, was it ok to delete the file. I chose yes. The problem is the free space showing on my drive is the same as before i deleted the folder. its showing i have 5 gigs less hard drive space then i should have. I then took a look in gparted to see what it shows. and that shows that i have 5 gigs more. and that is actually correct.

My question is, how to i get my free space to display correctly when i right click the drive and choose properties. its 5 gigs less than whats really there.

ok i found the files in /root/.local/share/Trash using gksudo nautilus and looking around.

but when i try to delete them they appear again....

Aha! I found that using shift delete removes them! And my free space is now correct!
