Does Staroffice come installed on this linux? If it doesn't, can I download it? Is it a free download or is there another software for this linux that is like microsoft office?

Star Office is commercial and available direct from Sun Microsystems. Ubuntu comes with OpenOffice which is the free version of Star Office. The differences are very few in my opinion.

An alternative to this would be Lotus Symphony or, if you are using the KDE desktop, Koffice.

I think so, open office is almost resemble to microsoft office, but I think open office is better
