Provide us with some information regarding your hardware (model, chipset, video card, etc) so we can help you better.
At what point does the installation lock up?

You can take a look at these:

Also please include how much memory your system has. (I'm guessing that's probably not an issue given that you're running Vista, however the LiveCD installer does have increased memory requirements due to booting the entire OS from CD into RAM, hence why I want to know.)

Also, did you perform the CD verification/check to ensure the CD is not corrupted, and/or did you do the memory test, to ensure you do not have an obscure memory error somewhere?

ByteJuggler,

Thanks for the response I did do a memory check and everything check out okay. I also did a CD verification and did not get any errors. Memory (RAM 2494 MB). My computer locks up after the burnt orange colored screen appears. I went back to running Vista Home Basic by running a full system restore. Thank you again in advance.

Would you still like us to help troubleshoot your issues? If so you still should specify your exact hardware as requested in another post, if possible. An easy way to do that would be to boot up with the Ubuntu LiveCD, press alt-f2, and then enter the following in the command box (or better yet, copy and paste it) :

gksudo lspci >/tmp/hw.txt; gedit /tmp/hw.txt

Press enter (or click Run), and most of the relevant hardware info should open up in a text editor, from where you can post it here.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Win Finkley for more information if necessary.
