update-manager not offering upgrade to 7.04

Asked by Daniel Silverstone

I have a machine which was installed with 6.10 (edgy) from CD.

I followed the checks on http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading and then wanted to do a network upgrade.

I started update-manager like the above page says to, but I don't get offered the 'New distribution release' button.

Someone suggested I did 'sudo update-manager -c' from a command prompt, which I have tried, but that didn't help either.

What should I do in order to upgrade?

Have you the repository "egdy-updates" enabled in your configuration ? You have to have update manager 0.45.2 installed, which is provided by this repo. After enabled this, check updates in Synaptic and install them (if there are updates). Then, retry "update-manager -c".
