Network Manager: Saving VPN password results in not being able to connect

If I save my vpn user and password in the optional area in the VPN tab I can not connect (no vpn secrets). If I remove the password, I'll get asked for it while connecting... and it works...

It looks like you may be affected by this bug:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/284212

which has been fixed and is currently in Intrepid-proposed

If you're comfortable enabling this update source you can find it in:

system -> administration -> software sources -> updates

(you may have to recreate the VPN connection after installing the update)
