will ubuntu read my extra drive

new to linux and ubuntu, dont have it yet, just ordered the complete set from the linux store (great folks), getting 8.04 lts, anyway, my puter crashed and im tired of windows which is why the switch to linux, but all of my personal files (ALL) are on a separate harddrive, this is a thinkpad z61t and the extra harddrive is one i bought and is mounted in a removable bay, i only have one bay, all ways having to switch the dvd and personal files hd out, but thank god i did this otherwise my personal files would be gone
anyway, to the question
after installing ubuntu on the internal hard drive will ubuntu be able to read or read/write or do nothing with the fat32 files system of my personal files hard drive?

linux in general can read and write on fat32 and in general it can read/write ide drives so im guessing u should be ok but probably u will have to already have put the harddisk in the pc during boot. i dont know if u will be able to mount it if u add it later (i guess windows also cant do this)
