Ubuntu 8.10 wont Install

Asked by swift240

Hi all,
I have tried many times to Install Ubuntu 8.10 but every time I try my keyboard Caps lock and Scroll lock flashes and it locks up no further action.

I have tried a fresh Install and also I have loaded Ubuntu 8.10 in and then tried to do an Install but I cant even get it that far.

My motherboard is an Asus A8N-SLI SE dual core 64bit Athlon 3800+
WIth 3GB of DDR ram.
The harddrive is a new 80 gb and i have also tried it on a HD that I already have that to is a 80gb but same result both HD's are different company names.

I have no problems with Ubuntu 8.04.
I have tried the CD that came through the post and downloads but it is the same result, I just cant get Ubuntu 8.10 onto my PC.
I did do an upgrade from Ubuntu 8.4 to 8.10 but as soon is its on keyboard lights flash and my system freezes up.

Any help please.
TIA,
Mike.

I want to tell you that I too faced problems in installing 8.10 on many other systems. Many of my friends had the same problems.

Try to run it by disabling the acpi. Follow this tutorial.

Though this is for HP6515b laptop. Try it out.
