synergy server already has a connected client with name

this happens every 6 or 7 months and after hours of watching videos and reading pages doing everything they say and then some, I get it to work again. but after so much I can never remember what did fix it, ahg.
today I started up and got thanks for installing synergy??? (back in hell) with it not working.
C1 is the computer with keyboard & mouse
C2 is the one without it
 the install happen on C2
C2 has version 1.6.2 and is 32bit
C1 has version 1.7.6 64bit
 Why there, not the same I have no clue and why is the new install older I have no clue. is this whats is putting the wall up on me?

so I've gotten to "server already has a connected client with name" no clue on what to do, now that I have it set up the way all the videos show.
I did find a video saying just turn it on and off again and it will reset, but that did not for me.

any clue on what to do? it got to be something simple because I can't find it lol
or is there another system that does the same job that I can use. that is easy to set up?
