Sony Handycam DCR-DVD610

Asked by NakiMum

Hi there all, I've really settled in Ubuntu very nicely - I'll hassle you all for solutions to my problems until we get it sorted, but I refuse to go back to Windows!!!
Anyhow, I've got a Sony Handycam DCR-DVD610 and am looking for software to install on my laptop. I use a usb cable to connect between laptop and camcorder. Awaiting an answer soon.

The handycam has memory card (which works fine on Ubuntu) and small dvd's, but my drive reads these as empty - they aren't empty. Please could someone help me urgently. There's videos on there that I want to load onto my laptop to post on my website for family and friends to see.

Hi there
has someone found something on this for me? I've tried just about everything I can think of, even running the cd with wine. But nothing works.

Hi there
Is there anyone that can give me some advice or a download link?
I've contacted Sony - but talk about IDIOTS! I'll have to contact them in the new year so that they can work on a solution for my problem.
It's christmas-season and I'd like to take some videos, but I can't download to my computer.
PLEASE HELP ME.

I never finalised the dvd's on the camcorder itself. Once I did that I could download the images/videos using k3b.

So this problem has also been solved and should be 'filed' under user-stupidity
