Hi,

What do you mean when you say "i have the system memory low & swap area high"? It's usual that the system use more physical memory than swap (my self experience says: "you don't need more that 512 MB of swap space"). As you have 256 MB of RAM I suggest you keep using gutsy be cause every new version of Ubuntu brings new features that sometimes need more hardware requirements.

Hope this help you

Well i have a physical memory(mount) of size 6.6gb & swap area of size 3.3gb. This is what i meant. And u & Ubuntu friends have also said swap of 512mb is fine. So i have 2 make a reinstallation. Plz tell me which file system i can go 4......

Thanks

I would recommend using ext3 filesystem. Because it is a tried-and-true and extremely well-tested filesystem. The recovery tools for it are quite good, and since it has been around for so long (ext3 is just the ancient ext2 filesystem with journaling tacked on) it is very well documented and therefore easy to work with.

Hope this helps
