Flash drvie help!

Asked by Chief. Ruben Amador

I have tried everything and I can't get my flashdrive to mount. I even tried these instrutions. Please someone help. I keep getiing this message. DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. Bye!

tried these instructions and nothing:

Go to Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal

Type "sudo apt-get install pysdm" without the quotes, then enter your
password when prompted

When it is finished installing, close the terminal window

Restart the computer, insert the flash drive and then go to System ->
Administration -> Storage Device Manager

Once it opens, select the drive, then the partition you want to access (on
the left hand side of the GUI) and then click mount.

If this does not work you may need to backup your drive, format as FAT file
format, and then copy your pictures and music back onto the drive. Make
sure you don't have any program files on the drive after formatting.

Thanks for choosing Everex,

I just received my everex computer on the 13Th of this month and I have to say that I'm very satisfied with the product. But every time I connect my Scan-Disk Micro Cruzer flash drive in I get this message.Unable to mount location DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. I'm unable to hear my music and see my pictures that I have on my flash drive. Please help I'm new at this. Thanks!

Sorry you are having problems. It's probably not a problem with the device, as it sounds like it's working in other computers.

It is probably a bug in hal related to that particular piece of hardware. See this bug report, for similar problems: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hal/+bug/251781

It would be best to open a new bug report and report the problem you are having with that particular device.

In the mean time, you could try using box.net to save your files. The upside to using box.net in place of a USB drive, is that you don't need to worry about misplacing the USB drive, or losing it, or running over it with your car, or having it die on you. The downside, is you need to have internet access to get to your files.

I am no expert at Linux, but the SanDisk cruzer flashdrives come with a built-in security program that only boots on Microsoft Windows. I even have trouble getting it to boot on Windows at my job, where I don't have admin privileges. You might look at the SanDisk web site for help.

I suggest you format the flashdrive as FAT32 from a Windows XP machine, then try it on Ubuntu again.

Can you help with this problem?
