new version ubuntu 8.10 installed and shut down is very slow and takes minutes rather than seconds.

Asked by William

I installed v 8.10 upgrade yesterday over 8.04 and so far the many improvements I like except the length of time it now takes to shut down the system. On v 8.04 it would shut down in a matter of a few seconds. With v 8.10 it takes several minutes to complete the full shut down. The screen will blank quickly however the screen will then be black and a upper left corner blinking curser will display for quite a while before a total shut down happens. Is this a bug? Or a issue with the install or my system?

Do you know what kind of video card you are running?

if not try pasting the result of doing the following command:

lspci | grep VGA
