Problem during installing wine via Synaptic Manager

Asked by passionguy

I encountered the following error while installing wine using Synaptic Manager

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/wine_0.9.46-0ubuntu1_i386.deb: short read in buffer_copy (backend dpkg-deb during `./usr/lib/wine/msdmo.dll.so').

I dun know how to proceed whether to go for a reinstallation or something better...
Thanks in advance my Ubuntu friends.....

You should try installing wine from winehq's repositories, which has always the latest version:

http://www.winehq.org/site/download-deb

Could be a corrupted .deb package, try with "sudo apt-get clean" and then reinstalling the package.
