Built-in webcam not working properly

Acer Aspire 3680: built-in webcam is not recognised by Cheese, Egika or Skype. Need a driver, please help. Urgent.

I've tried everything to get this fixed. The green indicator light is on, but no visual. The built-in webcam gives green stripes in skype 2. I've got a cheap usb webcam that is recognised by cheese, but not with skype, gives green, brown & whites stripes and spots. Please help. I really want to see my sisters' and nieces when I phone them via skype. I'm the kids godmother and miss them terribly. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me sort this once and for all.

I mistakenly updated to Ubuntu 9.4 and webcam is now working fine.
