co-habitation Ubuntu/WIN XP, Wi-Fi problemes

Asked by Salviem

on a Asus EeePC1000H, I have added Ubuntu 8.10 to the original WIN XP. They accept each other fine, except that I am unable to use the W-Fi connection on Ubuntu, only cable connection works. I have a ADSL "free.fr box". Any suggestions ? This is apparently a problem from the Asus EeePC because it works OK on a regular laptop. Thanks for any help.

in the following documentation https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EeePC/Fixes follow those steps

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-intrepid-generic

EeePC 900s and 701s require "blacklist ath_pci" added to "/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist" to enable wireless.

sudo -s
echo blacklist ath_pci >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist

hope it helps

Hello David and all,
as stated above, I wanted to have Ubuntu and XP on my EeePC 1000H. Your comments help me at first, David, but I had to re-do it everytimes I got close to a wifi station. I had tried with both CD 8.4 and wubi 8.10, same problems. My solution, after reading most of all the forums, was to un-install the "regular" ubuntu and install Ubuntu-eee (which is a 8.4) now, every things are working fine, Wifi and webcam. Ubuntu-eee has a different presentation (pleasant), but has all functionalities of the other Ubuntu. I like to thanks all of the community that help mee out, and special thanks to you David.
