you can join #ubuntu channel on IRC (mind it) using pidgin internet messenger and follow the instructions
and i have same problem and still not solved but i have different hardware and different manufacturer , i am sure on #ubuntu channel your problem will be solved and provide them output of lspci from terminal and pastebin it .you are new and it will take some time to learn things so do not hesitate to ask ,ask what you want and they will help you if they know the solution

The "magic keyword" for Google search is the chipset of the video card. Just open a terminal (Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal) and type:

lspci

(the first letter is a little L)

It's like X-rays: you'll see all the internals of the laptop. Just pick the line saying something like "VGA controller", and you'll discover the name of your video card. You can even post it here, in case someone else (not me :-) ) can help you.

Please open a terminal and post the output of

lspci | grep -i vga

Also please tell... the make and model of your laptop.

Thanks
