gnome logout panel button not replaced properly

Asked by Hadmut Danisch

Hi,

I've upgraded several machines to intrepid. On most of these machines, an info window appeared after the upgrade offering to replace the old logout/shutdown button in the gnome panel with a new combined one.

On two of my machines that requester never appeared (on one the update-manager crashed before cleaning up the machine).

How would I perform that replacement manually?

regards
Hadmut

First please be sure there are no pending packages...

So please:

Open a Terminal from the menu Applications → Accessories → Terminal and type:
(when the system ask you a password give your user password, you will not see nothing when you type it, then press enter)

sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt-get -f install
sudo apt-get --fix-missing install
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get autoremove

Hope this helps
