Install Windows XP from Ubuntu when XP CD will not boot.

Asked by The Blob

I have a WIndows XP CD that will not boot from the CD. The BIOS settings are set correctly, but I think the XP CD is missing the files that boot it. So is there a way to run the setup utility from the XP CD while Ubuntu is running? I have put the XP CD into a Windows based computer, opened up the CD folder contents and double-clicked the setup.exe file and the install menu came up. But how do I get the install menu to come up in Ubuntu when I double-click the setup.exe file? I know that .exe files don't work with ubuntu, but is there any way around this? I wish I could just boot the XP setup from the CD but it will not.

Try to install wine (sudo apt-get install wine), I can install game based for windows in ubuntu using wine ...

If you have installing wine, just double click setup.exe (like you using windows based computer),

But, if you install windows after install ubuntu in the same drive, you must reinstall ubuntu, cause windows will be not detect ubuntu installation ...

I wish good luck ....
