dual boot blue page hangs

Asked by beachreader

ok here's the deal....(i newbie)..

Details: I have an old dell 4100 Pentium 111 733 mhz, 2 memory sticks 128MG amd 256MG i guess?. I have 2 hard drives: Master - Ubuntu; slave Windows 98 second.

Problem: When I turn on computer it loads to a blue page...blue world with www.dell.com on the bottom...the problem is its stays (or hangs) on that page (screen) for about 1 minute and 45 seconds before it loads to grub. Any idea how I can shorten the time spent on that page. Does any one have any idea? Many thanks!!!

If you're stuck before grub it's a problem with the bios. Better double check you're wiring. Check for a BIOS upgrade from Dell or call up Dell's support. This has nothing to do with linux or grub. At least as far as I understand.

Tsvi, thanks I will check for upgraded bios, but this only started when I install a dual boot to this machine. It seem to be working fine before. Thanks
