want to voice record on my ubuntu system what program do I need to get to be able to voice record and then burn a CD of my recording? I have the CD burner but I need to know how to put my voice onto a file in my system

Asked by Carol Hamilton

I want to record my voice for and audio voice CD version of my children's books. I would like to know what program to use to achieve the voice recording and then store it into my files to be able to burn CD's for purchase with my paperback books.

You should try Audacity.

Hi Carol, have you tried fivedads.com? This is a website which allows users to record themselves reading popular, published childrens stories. You choose a story from a menu. Then, using a simple computer microphone, or the one built in to your laptop, you record yourself reading the story. The fivedads reader is specially timed as well. This is so that when the website mixes your voice with music and sound effects, everything is timed perfectly!
As in you say "there was a knock at the door", and you hear knock knock knock. That sort of thing.
You receive your personalised audio book as a stereo MP3 in your e-mail inbox.
The price is very reasonable as well!
You can do a free trial if you like.
Have a go at www.fivedads.com

Hi Carol.

Have you tried using Mixcraft? It's a highly rated multitrack recording application for Windows.
You can download a free trial version and it's really user friendly.

You can also get free royalty free sound effects here:
http://www.pacdv.com/sounds/index.html

Alternatively, when typing in 'personalised audiobook' on ebay, I noticed a children's audiobook that someone will personalise for you there.

Hi poohbear. I highly recommend FiveDads.com. It is the only website in the world where you can record yourself reading from a menu of popular children's story books. Your voice recording is uploaded, mixed with music and sound effects, and sent to your e-mail address as an MP3 in minutes. You even have time at the beginning and end to record a personal message. The result is a real audio book that is not only personalised, but the child hears your voice reading them the story! It's Brilliant!
The results are amazing and the price is the same as many of the ' your name here' books.
Check it out...
