My computers shuts down automaticaly

Asked by passionguy

If i leave my computer idle for more than half'n hour it shuts down automatically & also the same when i locked it. I dun know wat makes it do that. I am a new user of Ubuntu & previously using windows. I have less hard disk space (6.3-root+3.3-swap) 4 ubuntu & other previously used windows space. Is this sufficient 2 run Ubuntu.....

Thanks in advance.....

I think this is happening due to power management features of ubuntu.

You can change this behavior using following.

1) Go to System -> Preferences -> Power Management.
2) The "Put Computer for Sleep when Inactive for" shows when it will sleep automatically. Try changing that to whatever you want (it also has never option when you drag the slider all the way to right).

Hope this helps.

Thanks Jignesh. Well i have set the option as 1 hour thinking that sleep was not shutdown like in Windows & also for power management reason. I think they can change the word 'sleep' to 'shutdown'. I also like to tell i have not left the system inctive as i was downloading so that it doesnt meant that it is inactive.
