COMPATIBILITY WITH ASUS EEE PC 1000H

Asked by dartax on 2008-11-12

Hi, I'm thinking to buy an Asus eee PC 1000h, that this notebook has an ATOM INTEL processor, 80GB Sata HDD, 1GB ram, etc.

Here is the specs of the asus that I want to buy: http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/MLA-41424779-tricubo-asus-eeepc-1000h-80g-1gb-10-eee-pc-1000-bluetooth-_JM

And the questions are:

1. I have to install the "ubuntu 8.04 for i386" that I can find in the home page? or there's an special edition for the 1000H?
2. I will have problems or incompatibilities beetween the ubuntu and the hardware?

Very very thanks and sorry for my wrong english!

1) i386 is the normal 32-bit intel proccessor standard, which Ubuntu ships by default with, so you will just need to use the default image

2) It seems the hardware should work, but it needs a bit of tweaking, here is a very good guide on how to this

Hope this Helps

You can also opt to go for eeebuntu (specially made from eeepc's [basically all the tweaks explained in the howto above and a bit more i think])
