Right click on the Skype icon on your task bar, scroll to "Options" and then to "Sound Devices". Set "Sound in", "Sound out" and "Ringing" to "Default Device (default)". Tick the box below.

If that does not produce the desired result, check which device is set as default for Ubuntu in System, Preferences, Sound.

The version of Skype that I have (from the Skype site) is 2.0.0.72.

Automatic Proxy Detection, etc is in the Advanced screen.

The available configuration screens in Options are: General, Privacy, Notifications, Chat, Call Forwarding, Voicemail, Sound Devices, Video Devices, Advanced, Blocked People, Public API.

Hello Andre
I think my pproblem is my Amd64 processor so I put in the search engine Skype for linux 8.10 for Amd64 and I was able to put into a terminal some sudo things and among other things got extra libraries which gave me the options box information that you have and everything seems as you have directed. So I went to sssystem preferences sound and when doing test on each ....sound capture test didnt work
look forward to your help

Hello Marcobra,
in descending order I put in alsa but on the forth one(sound capture) the test thing went over and back and made no sound like the previous three and pressing OK it seemed to kinda stuck. There is also another box below and I do not know what to put into it
It saysDefault mixer tracks

I am using a logiteck headphone and speaker combined.

Look forward to your help

The first question that comes to mind is: do you have any sound in Ubuntu at all?

The second question is: what is the output (in a terminal) of "asoundconf list" (without the quotes).

If you have sound to operate Songbird and Miro, there should not be any reason why you should not have sound in Skype.

Would you please check which version of Skype you have installed.

You can download Skype for Ubuntu directly from the Skype web site.
