Internet connection

Asked by TONYYB

Hi,
I have ubuntu 8.04 installed on my internal E drive and Windows XP installed on my C drive.
The windows connects through a modem to Verizon DSL. If I configure Ubuntu to connect through the same modem will I still be able to connect the Windows XP to the internet? Is there a way to connect the Ubuntu 8.04 through the Windows xp? A way to let them both connect? Thanks

Hi,

Maybe I am missing something, but I am pretty sure that you are worrying for nothing. When you start your computer, you can chose between Ubuntu or Windows, they are completely independent. You cannot run both at the same time, so either Windows or Ubuntu will connect to the model, not both.

Thanks. I just wasn't sure if changing the settings would affect the modem and make Windows unable to use it.
Obviously I'm new to this stuff and I wanted to know before I messed something up. Thanks again, that helps me a lot.
