Wifi stopped working

Asked by sunybv

I had my wifi working on my acer aspire one with ubuntu 8.10. However I tried fixing my sound issues through the acer apsire one guide on this website and when I was done I had lost my wifi. I tried reinstalling the driver with ndiswrapper thing because that is what worked for me before but it refuses to work now and then I tried the madwifi which also did not work. I may just reinstall ubuntu and redo my wifi on a clean install becuase I'm new to linux and I dont have a clue what how I messed up my wifi after messing with audio stuff. Any info would be appreciated.

sunybv,

Could you provide a link to the acer website where it talks about fixing your sound issues? We might be able to work out what happened, and how to sort it out.

Thanks

Andrew Gee

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AspireOne

This page had a bunch of tweaks on it for the aspire one, however it was for ubuntu 8.04.1 and im running 8.10 intrepid.

I reinstalled ubuntu 8.10 this morning and did the ndiswrapper driver install. Wifi is back but if you know what it is I did before to lose it I would like to know for future reference. Thanks again for your time.

Different laptop and different integrated wireless, however both acer machines so it could be related. Not sure though. Haven't had any problems with sound or wireless driver since I reinstalled.
