How can I disable my Fingerprint Reader?

Asked by diuqil

Upgraded to 8.10 from 8.04 and had to redo a lot of things to save power on my laptop.

Powertop told me to suspend USB. Though I am not sure how to do that, I did manage to turn off my bluetooth. (If somebody knows how to properly suspend USB please let me know.

Afterwards, powertop told me my fingerprint reader is also drawing power. I am not using it, it's just running. How can I disable it?

when i type lsusb in xterm, i get:
Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0483:2016 SGS Thomson Microelectronics Fingerprint Reader

Thanks!

Yes, I've done that now. I managed to disable bluetooth in the BIOS.

The fingerprint reader is still giving me problems (can't turn it off). Still don't know how to USB suspend.

Hi,
you might disable it in autostart session.
