Belkin Wireless card advice

Asked by polecat

I have a Belkin Wireless Card (F5D9010) and would like it if someone could give me the idiots guide to getting it up and running on Ubuntu so that I can go online with my laptop.

I read on another page that the following instructions should be followed in order to get the card working but I can't quite understand them:

<b>belkin g wireless, works only with the rt2500 module or rt73 module...
otherwise ndiswrapper with the cd...

but I played with the belking g usb version but I couldn't get it to work...
still looking for a good wireless out of the box experience...<b>

What does rt2500 module mean? I read somewhere else that the RT2500 is something to do with RALINK chipset but this particular card has an AIRGO chipset.
When the advisor says ''ndiswrapper with cd' what exctly does that mean?

I wikipedia'd ndiswrapper and kind of know what it is but is there any guarantee that it will work with the wireless with Belkin G+ PCMCIA card ? Has it been tested yet?
I'm not going tif I can't get online and I'm a total noob.
I have a Belkin F5D9010 card and want to get online with it

I'm pretty sure that the card has an Airgo Chipset.

I have not got a router, I'm leeching from the hotel next door, they don't seem to mind, and I think they're router is an actiontech of sometype.

Anyway, as I said, I'm a noob and would love it if someone could help me out.

Thanks,

My previous post might seem a little unclear, please ignore my comment about USB as this is PCMCIA card. I believe it has an AIRGO chipset.

I just need the 'muppets guide' to getting this done.

Thanks in advance

It was pretty clear.

ndiswrapper is a tool that lets you use wifi cards under linux but using the windows driver.

So where someone says "ndiswrapper + cd" they mean, install the ndiswrapper package, and you need the windows driver CD for your network card.

The following page has some "muppet" level instructions.

Hi there,

I understand that you're having trouble getting your Belkin Wireless Card up and running on Ubuntu. It can be frustrating when you're not familiar with the technical jargon and instructions.

Regarding the rt2500 module, it is a driver for wireless devices with RALINK chipsets, but as you mentioned, your Belkin card has an AIRGO chipset. Therefore, it might not be compatible with the rt2500 module. As for ndiswrapper, it is a tool that allows you to use Windows drivers on Linux, but it might not always work as expected.

If you're a total noob, I would recommend looking for a Linux-compatible wireless card to avoid any compatibility issues. Alternatively, you could try contacting Belkin support to see if they have any Linux drivers available for your card.

Lastly, I would advise against leeching from your neighbor's hotel Wi-Fi as it is not only illegal but also unethical. It's best to use a legitimate internet connection to avoid any legal consequences. You can also check : https://garagedoorrepairlaurel.com/garage-door-spring-repair/

I hope this helps!
