kernal update, boot problems 2.6.20-14

I just received a kernal update, and 2.6.20-14 will no longer boot (it was booting fine before). I am still able to boot into 2.6.20-13 generic.

The boot stops very early on. Right after the first little bar appears on the boot screen, everything freezes. When i boot into recovery mode, everything flies by, but then it just stops at the end. Thanks for any help you can give.

Opps...I meet the same issue. I remeber the new kernel version is 2.6.20-14.24.

But kernel of 2.6.20-14.23 worked well in my computer.

Hello !

Could you edit your /boot/grub/menu.lst file add remove the "quiet" option, so you should see the kernel messages at boot time, which could help diagnosing ...

Same problem here too. I tried starting in recovery mode but it hangs there too. Here are the lines from that screen.

[25.021083] ata5.00: ATA-7: HDS728080PLA380,PF20A69A

[25.021133] ata5.00: 16083640 sectors, multi: 16: LBA48 NCQ (depth 31/32)

I'll go remove the quite option and see if there is anything else to tell you.

Here's the results of removing quiet (last three lines).

Mounting root file system

Running /scripts/local-top ok

Waiting for root file system

And thar she hangs.
