second hard disc detection failure

i have a second hard disc which contains media files and after last night's updates my second hard disc is not showing up in the places section. is there any way to detect the lost hard drive?

Does it show in the "Places->Computer" window? If so, can you mount it from there?

also, can you tell us the output of "sudo fdisk -l" and "mount"?

did a tedious exercise for this, installed ubuntu on the 2nd hard disk and then installed on the 1st and formatted the 2nd hard disk now it works fine.
