can I upgrade from Ubuntu to Kubuntu

Asked by Neil

With only 3 days left to the new release I was thinking of going to Kubuntu, Is it better than Ubuntu?
what is the difference.

If so how do I tell it to change to Kubnuntu, if not such a good an Idea how do I just upgrade to Ubuntu, as I have only been using Ubuntu for a few month and have been told Kubuntu is harder to use, is that true?
I read somewhere, typing something in Run Application (Alt+F2)
So can I get both commands please than I can make up my mind.,
Thanks Neil

kubuntu is simply a series of packages that can be installed on ubuntu, in essense you can have both ubuntu and kubuntu installed on the same system, you simply tell the computer what you want to use when you log in.

there is a handy guide here thats good at walking you though this process: http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/9369

I might say that you might want to wait until you are using 8.10 before doing this though, kubuntu 8.04 uses kde 3 whist kubuntu 8.10 uses kde 4 which is a large upgrade

forgot to mention, you can always try out kubuntu by getting a live-cd and just testing it out on that, http://www.kubuntu.org/getkubuntu
