vpnclient problem on kernel 2.6.24.21

Asked by bassam

I am running ubuntu 8.04 on Dell inspiron 1525 (without any hardware related problems)

I can connect to my work computer using cisco vpnclient. Since I update my kernel to 2.6.24.21, I can not start the vpnclient and the following error just like the following is produced:

Starting /opt/cisco-vpnclient/bin/vpnclient: insmod: error inserting '/lib/modules/2.6.24-21-generic/CiscoVPN/cisco_ipsec.ko': -1 Unknown symbol in module
Failed (insmod)

Knowing that I have copied the CiscoVPN dicrectory that I have found under /lib/modules/2.6.24.19/ to /lib/modules/2.6.24.21/

When I boot using the kernel 2.6.24.19, I can use vpnclient normally

thanks

Would you please reinstall original CISCO vpn client? I think it is compiling modules for your current kernel during installation. Please remove /lib/modules/2.6.24.21/CiscoVPN first.

the reinstall of Cisco vpn has solved the problem

note,

I have forgoten to remove what I previously added stupidly (the directory CiscoVPN under /lib/modules/2.6.24.21/) before the reinstall, it works however !

Thanks Tomasz Z. Napierala
