From where can I download Ubuntu softwares?

From which site/s can i download free full version softwares for Ubuntu linux? From where can i get free manual on working on ubuntu as i am completely new to this and i used windows xp before this? Can i order the manual with the upcoming versions of ubuntu for free? Will you also send me unnecessary letters on the address i provided for shipping of the cd? If so please don't do so because the address i provided was my father's official address and his boss will really be angry. Does virus affects Ubuntu?

you may be used to going to the shop and buying software for windows, we don't do that here in ubuntu. you can install any software you need by going to the add/remove programs menu item in the applications menu, you simply select what you want and it will download and install the software for you.

no letters or 'spam' will be sent to the address you provided for shipping.

ubuntu at the moment is virus proof for the most part, i have been using ubuntu for many years and never seen a virus on an ubuntu system. this is because ubuntu has a better security policy than windows and because most virus software is designed for windows not ubuntu.
