Desktop effects affect Video Play

Asked by nsilva

Ubuntu 7.04 has a nice Desktop Effects feature, that gives new behaviors to the Windows and menus, sort of OS-X. It seems to behave stable; however, when I play video, the video screen goes black..the movie still plays. If I shake the window around I can see some images and when I stop it goes black again.

Do not know how to report this as a bug, and I don't know if it should be a VLC player bug or a Ubuntu bug. As soon as I take the effects off this issue goes away..

Let me know how I can document this bug...

If you are talking about beryl/compiz, that's a known issue... It is a problem with gl, still unresolved...
It affects screen savers as well... The only way to fix it, unfortunately, is to wait a bugfix :(

Did you try this:

1. Go to: Settings > Preferences > Video > Output moduels
2. Ensure the box, "advanced options" are checked
3. At the line, "Video output module", choose the following: X11 video output

Can you help with this problem?
