... find the large ones and remove them manually... i don't think the kde meta-package works in reverse or is it intended too. Just remove the core of kde and most of it should peel away as the dependencies are removed.

This seems to be the same question you posted as #48288.
There you will find the answer.
If you are not satisfied by the answers you get, inform us on the same opened post.
It makes no sense to repost the same question again and again.

Thank you.

db, thanks for the reply. I don't know the names of the KDE apps that are supposed to be removed. The names are very elusive. I tried to find these apps in Synaptic with no luck. I know many of the KDE apps reside in usr/bin. But, again, the names of these KDE apps don't match the ones found in usr/bin. What must I do?

Andreas, I understand what you're saying. However, sometimes I have no choice but to double post because the original posts don't get answered at all. Hope you understand.

Hi, guys! I found this link and want your opinion on whether or not it works. Keep in mind, however, that I still have 3 KDE apps that I need to keep. Please let me know! Here's the link:

His how to info is usually pretty good. However, if you do that you can't keep 3 kde apps. KDE is kind of all or none (same with gnome). While you won't have to have everything installed, you will need some of the kde libs if you want to run kde apps. Best approch would probalby be to remove it all then from gnome just install the apps you want. That will pull in the required depencies which would be hard to determine going in reverse (i.e. removing all but what's needed).
