Installing Win XP on top of Ubuntu

Currently my pc OS is Ubuntu 8.04 and I would like to install Win XP Pro on top of it. Is this possible or do I need to format and install XP Pro then re install again ubuntu?

Please help.

you can also use virtualbox or vmware (or qemu but not as easy) to load windows inside of ubuntu, however you will then lack fast directX/opengl video acceleration

if you don't mind formatting you ubuntu system, that's okay. it's easier to put ubuntu on top of xp than the other way around. but i would also suggest you follow the link given by arochester - it's the same how-to that saved my a** when i had to reinstall my xp partition.
