Sorry OpenOffice Professional doesn't exist as far as I am aware, could you give a link to it's site?

If you mean the new release of Open Office - version 3 - then certainly upgrade when it hits the repos as it is an improvement. You can also download and install it now if you want. It's quite easy. If you are referring to a paid version then it's probably a scam. Open Office is free.

It seems as though all it offers is some support as regards to Open Office, there aren't any extra features however

OK - Thanks. I had seen some kind ofblog somewhere which said that the Pro
version was now available online but the servers were swamped by people
trying to download it and that it was a great update. Then I forgot where I
had seen it and wondered what the improvements were.

Ah, that would have been about the new version of Open Office (no. 3), that is free. If you wish to upgrade Open Office, to the newest version, you can find out how here

http://tombuntu.com/index.php/2008/10/14/install-openofficeorg-30-in-ubuntu-804-and-810/

From the above link:

"OpenOffice Pro is the complete OpenOffice package, including training and support software. Using interactive, voice led software, each part of OpenOffice Writer, Calc and Impress are explained. The system is very easy to use, and leads a student from the very basics to the intricacies of OpenOffice. The system also serves as a helpdesk, allowing the user to quickly find help on over 100 topics with over 1000 screenshots."

Looks like the pro version just includes some training CDs. There is no difference in the software. That site does not include vesion 3 yet.

The report you heard was about the release of Open Office 3 (the free version) and their servers were overwhelemed by downloads.

Can you help with this problem?
