installation Freeze

Asked by The Pillows

Alright I'm trying to install Ubuntu 6.10 at the boot menu I've tried both "Start or install Ubuntu" and "Start Ubuntu with graphics safe mode" and get the same result with both options. My problem is after I click one of the two above options in the menu the logo comes up but after a minute the orange bar completely stops moving and then blue wavey lines come up follow but a green pixeled bar above it. Also when I press a key part of the blue lines become light blue and then for every key I press it adds another little dot. I've also tried changing the resolution and got the same problem, any help.

I had the same problem with an Gateway 500GR PC that I wanted to load Ubuntu on. Intel P4 HT with 512 MB of RAM and 200GB SATA hard drive. The only card in the system is a ATI graphics card.

I too have a ATI Video card, did you ever find a solution?

I've had similar problems and have been able to get around it by adding "noapic nolapic" without the quote marks to the boot options. On my system it did not appear to have anything to do with the video card, mine was a nVida.

Can you help with this problem?
