Open readme.txt and it will undoubtedly have instructions.

If you type "lspci" (without quotes) into a terminal window (Applications, Accessories, Terminal), it will give you a readout. Near the bottom you should see an entry similar to this:

07:01.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 10)

No driver is needed.

From the information available via Google it seems that it is possible to get this device to work:

http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/linux/linux-kernel/2002-46/0485.html

It seems that the device is not identified properly.

Hardware Support states that the 8139D does not work in Hardy Heron (18.4.2008).

The easiest solution would be to replace it with the 8139/8139C/8139C+

hi everyone...

i have spent this entire day cleaning my computer from windows and changing to linux. it works. great.
yet i have the same problem as Suparshwa Shah ... and i searched the internet for an answer, and i couldnțt find it.

if i type "lspci" in my terminal, it says my Hangzhou Silan Microelectronics Co., Ltd. Unknown device 2031.

yes, apparently the "new" version of ubuntu has the driver installed... apparently. it still doesn't work.

being new, i'd apreciate a step by step walk-through if possible. i think Suparshwa Shah would love that too. once we're online with linux. it's an easy way to go.

Can you help with this problem?
