HighMemory Support

Asked by sangprabv

Hi,
I plan to buy a Dell PE2950 III, with 16GB memory, QuadCore processor. Does Ubuntu automatically identify the whole memory? And does Ubuntu also automatically optimize all things? Need help soon. TIA

if its a 64-bit cpu it will automatically enable all the memory and will not need optimizing.

Thanks all for the quick reply. I have some other questions. Does Ubuntu Server edition is a stable distro for a heavy duty server? Especially for LAMP configuration. Because there will be more than 1 million requests or data to be stored per day. TIA.

wikipedia just switched over to ubuntu, it supposidly handles 50,000 requests a second. ubuntu server edition is very much stable and able to work as a heavy duty server
