To be sure your system is in a good state.

Open a Terminal from the menu Applications → Accessories → Terminal and type:

sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt-get -f install
sudo apt-get --fix-missing install
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get autoremove

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.

Hope this helps

Then if you have still problem please make also a deep RAM memory check...

Start the pc the when you see the GRUB row...

Press ESC.

Select the "Ubuntu ..., memtest86+" row and press enter, please run this test for many hours (i suggest you for an entire night).

Hope this helps
